Assists with supporting all production equipment to assure continuous stable production within customer production schedule and quality requirements. Leads and participates in addressing all aspects of the electrical and electronic functions of die casting and machining production equipment including: planning of new equipment; installation of new equipment; troubleshooting and repair or modification of new and existing production equipment. Participates in determining improvement targets for upgrading existing equipment.
**Offers a $1.50 Shift differential for 2nd & 3rd shifts.**
Responsible for leading and participating in the electrical/electronic related aspects of planning, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying any die cast or machining production machinery or ancillary equipment. Assists with troubleshooting and repair of production equipment's other systems including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems. May assist with the installation of new production machines or equipment with lead responsibilities on the setup and programming of new robotic and other electronic production equipment along with leading any trouble shooting and repair.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Daily Job Activities:
- Leads and participates in the electrical/electronic aspects of planning and installing new production machinery and ancillary equipment including programming of PLC's and robotic devices.
- Leads and participates in the electrical/electronic diagnostic and repair procedures for problems with production equipment.
- Leads and participates in the modification of the electrical/electronic components of production equipment including the programming of PLC's and robotic devices.
- Updates and maintains electrical/electronic schematics, PLC programs, robot parameters, and electrical/electronic and other machine blueprints.
- Trains EM associates in the technical aspects of equipment maintenance with primary focus on electrical/electronic systems. May train some EM associates in programming of PLC's and/or robotic parameters.
- Monitors and evaluates equipment downtime due to electrical, electronic, and/or
programming conditions and determines and implements appropriate improvements for optimal production results. - Participates in the development and implementation of improvement plans that target leveling up the capability of existing equipment and/or acquisition of replacement equipment to improve machine efficiency.
- Performs other equipment maintenance functions as assigned by the Manager.
Improvement Activities:
- Applies Deming principles and other root cause analysis tools when analyzing complex equipment problems and uses those tools to make appropriate equipment upgrades and improvements.
- May participate in Quality Circle improvement team when possible, o Performs other related improvement functions as assigned.
- Requires progressively higher level involvement with most phases of equipment maintenance in a manufacturing operation with primary focus in the electrical, electronic, and programming functions of the production machinery including programming of PLC's and robotic devices.
- 2-year technical degree in electrical engineering or equivalent training.
- PLC Programming. Functions and interfacing with bar code scanners.
- Net working with ether-net to PLC and equipment.
- Electrical Schematics reading. Understanding of safety circuits, relay logic. Omron / Keyence Servo drives.
- CNC Fanuc controls, PMC ladder.
- OPEN TO MECHANICAL ENGINEER Can work any shift Willing to learn electrical.
